Hannah Wanjiru KiarieMy dear mother, Hannah Wanjiru Kiarie has been in ICU for 10 weeks now. After contracting TB Meningitis while traveling with her church in Africa. She was immediately hospitalized and while in the hospital she contracted Pneumonia.

The doctors also discovered that she was had cerebral salt wasting syndrome. After 4 weeks, my mother was not even speaking and could barely even open her eyes. The doctors decided to run an MRI and discovered she had water in the brain so they decided to perform shunting so as to remove the excess buildup of water which was creating a lot of pressure in her brain. The doctors were very confident that after the surgery she would be able to speak again but that didn't happen.

After 7 weeks in the hospital, they realized she was having difficulty breathing and decided to perform a tracheotomy to help her breathe better & also wean her off the ventilation machine quickly. It has been 8 weeks now and she still has not been able to breathe on her own yet and still in the ICU unit. Her expenses have risen to 3 million Kenya shillings ($30,000 us dollars) and keep skyrocketing because she is in ICU, gets fresh oxygen every day, including medication combined with the doctor charges.
